PEI COVID-19 Circuit Breaker Measures go into effect 8 am Sunday

The PEI Government announced Circuit Breaker measures today, effective at 8 am Sunday and going until March 14 (end date may be earlier or later depending on progress). A number of these measures will impact PEI curling facilities and Curl PEI Events.

These time-limited interventions are being put into place in order to get control of the situation at hand and break the chain of transmission of COVID-19. The measures will be reassessed throughout.

These restrictions override all other existing sector-specific public health guidance.

Measures in brief:

Personal gatherings – up to 10 in your home in addition to those who live there

Organized gatherings – limit of 50, in a facility with an operational plan

Gyms, fitness facilities, museums, libraries, etc. – up to 50% capacity, must ensure physical distancing

Restaurants, pubs, etc. – take-out and delivery only

Retail, markets, craft fairs – up to 50% capacity, must ensure physical distancing

Sports – individual and team practices OK within gathering limit and organizational plan, no games.

No change to Long-term care – up to 3 partners in care, limited visitors

At all times, public health protocols must be followed (masks, hand sanitizing, physical distancing).
