PEI’s Suzanne Birt team is sitting at 3-0 win-loss after Saturday play at the $20,000 purse 15-team Oakville Labour Day Classic at the Oakville Curling Club in Ontario, winning their opening game 8-1 in a rematch of the previous weekend’s final against Jamie Sinclair of the US, then taking an 8-3 victory over Kayla MacMillan and her Vancouver squad, and winning 7-2 over Jestyn Murphy of Mississauga. Birt, Tracy Fleury, and defending champion Jennifer Jones are all undefeated at 3-0 going into Sunday play. John Epping, Brad Jacobs, and Glenn Howard are 3-0 in the men’s event.
Team Birt plays the MacKenzie Kiemele rink (1-2) at 1:30 pm Atlantic. The top eight teams advance to the playoff round, with the quarter-finals at 9 pm AT, the semis at 10 am Monday, and the final following at 1:30 pm on Monday.
