Korea’s Kim rink, coached by PEI’s Peter Gallant, sweeps Saville Shoot-Out, Scotland’s Mouat takes Stu Sells Oakville men’s event

It was a 7-0 weekend for Gangneung Korea’s Eunjung Kim team, coached by Islander Peter Gallant, at the Alberta Curling Series: Saville Shoot-Out in Edmonton, which they capped off Monday evening with a 6-1 six-end victory over Edmonton’s Laura Walker team in the final.

Team Zacharias with Lauren Lenentine on the right

The MacKenzie Zacharias rink from Altona Manitoba, which includes PEI’s Lauren Lenentine, finished at 3-2 win-loss after losing 5-3 to Kim in their final qualifying round match, putting them into a tiebreaker against Walker, which Walker won 7-2 for the playoff spot.

The Stu Sells Oakville Tankard also wrapped up Monday, with Hollie Duncan and her Woodstock Ont. rink beating Yellowknife’s Kerry Galusha 7-3 in the Women’s final, and Scotland’s Bruce Mouat winning the Men’s championship match 5-3 over Brad Jacobs.

Adam Casey

Team Jason Gunnlaugson from Manitoba, which includes PEI’s Adam Casey at third stone, made it to the quarter-finals, but lost that game 7-3 to eventual event winner Mouat, finishing with a 4-3 win-loss record.
