PEI’s Team Birt wins inaugural Stu Sells Halifax women’s event

The Halifax Curling Club’s Stu Sells 1824 Halifax Classic, with the Men’s event presented by Steele Subaru and the inaugural Women’s event presented by NeonTrain, wrapped up on Sunday, with PEI’s Team Suzanne Birt winning the women’s event with a 5-1 win-loss record, beating the Swiss Corrie Huerlimann rink 7-2 in the final, and the Stuart Thompson team from Halifax going undefeated in six games, and stealing 4 in the 9th end of their final in a 9-3 win over Montreal’s Michel Fournier squad to take the men’s. Team Birt got by Nova Scotia’s Jill Brothers rink, which includes PEI’s Erin Carmody foursome, 7-5 in the semi-final round.
