Birt defeated Chelsea Carey’s wild-card team 8-4 in Draw 13 on Feb. 2nd at the Canadian women’s curling championship.

Team P.E.I., which includes third stone Marie Christianson, second stone Meaghan Hughes, lead Michelle McQuaid and fifth player and coach Kathy O’Rourke, concludes round-robin play against Newfoundland and Labrador’s Sarah Hill (2-4) on Feb. 3 at 3 p.m.

Manitoba’s Mackenzie Zacharias rink, with New Haven’s Lauren Lenentine playing the lead position, lost twice on Feb. 1 to fall to 3-2, [but rebounded with a win against Quebec on Wednesday. They finish round robin play Thursday against Alberta and Team Canada.]
