In the Junior Women’s section, Team Lenentine from the Cornwall Curling Club beat the Carver Rink, from the Montague Curling Club while Team Easter from the Summerside Curling Club won over Team MacLean from the Cornwall Curling Club. Lenentine will face Easter in the “A” qualifier Friday evening.
On the Men’s side, Team Shaw from the Montague Curling Club had the bye in the first draw but beat Cornwall’s Team Snow in the second draw. The Schut Rink from the Cornwall Curling Club controlled their game against clubmates, the Dalton Team. Team Shaw will play Team Schut in the “A” qualifier Friday.
With the modified triple-knockout draw, section winners drop down to compete in other sections. The section winners advance to the Sunday playoff, unless one team wins all three sections. In this case, they will be the champions and a playoff won’t be needed. The winner of two sections will have to beaten twice in the championship round against the winner of the other section.
Draw times have changed for Friday to 1:30pm and 6:00pm because of the current forecast. Due to weather conditions the draw times have changed again, 6:00pm will be the only be one draw on Friday, January 13. The rest of the event draw times will be adjusted as a result, new times can be found at the link below.
Winners of this event will advance to the 2023 New Holland Canadian Junior Men’s and Women’s Curling Championships in Rouyn-Noranda, Que.
