The Rousseau team, which includes Mark O’Rourke, John Mullin, Phillip McInnis and spare, Bruce Wilkie, beat the Blair Weeks team from the host Club by a 7-5 score in Saturday afternoon’s “C” final to repeat as the men’s champions. Rousseau won the “A” final 6-4 and the “B” final 7-2, both against Weeks, eliminating the need for a playoff. Other members of the Weeks team are Alan Inman, Paul Morrison, and Doug MacGregor.
Meanwhile, the Shirley Berry rink from the Cornwall Curling Club, comprised of Karen Currie, Gloria Turner and Sandra Sobey, won the women’s division this morning, in a close 8-7 victory over Darlene London from the host club. This is Shirley Berry’s fourth straight title, seventh in total. Other members of the London rink are Bev Harding, Sherren MacKinnon and Susan Watts.
The two women’s finalists were determined Saturday afternoon, with Shirley Berry and her team edging out clubmates, the Debbie Rhodenhizer team by a score of 5-2 in the semi-final game.
Six men’s teams and 3 women’s teams were entered in the event, with the men playing a triple-knockout and the women playing a double round robin.
