
The PEI Under 18 Curling Championships wrapped up on Sunday evening at the Crapaud Community Curling Club, with the Girls Division deciding game, with Cornwall’s Ella Lenentine rink edging the Sydney Carver team by a 6-5 score in an extra end. Lenentine went through the round robin undefeated, but lost the first championship game 5-4, forcing the sudden death final.

The Boys division wrapped up with the 2 pm draw, with the Isaiah Dalton rink from Cornwall beating their clubmates, the Brayden Snow team, 6-4 in the final.

In semi-final girls play at 10 am, Carver beat Summerside’s Madalyn Easter team 6-4, while Dalton got by Summerside’s Brock Rochford rink by the same score. Lenentine and Snow advanced directly to their respective finals by virtue of round robin results.
Team Dalton and Team Lenentine earn the right to advance to the 2022 Canadian Under-18 Curling Ch’ships, presented by Curling Canada, May 1-7, 2022 at the Oakville Curling Club, Oakville, Ont.

Ch’ship Rounds set at PEI U18 Ch’ships in Crapaud
The PEI Under 18 Curling Championships wrap up with the Championship Round on Sunday at the Crapaud Community Curling Club.
The three girls teams and an equal number of boys rinks signed up played a double round-robin format, with the Ella Lenentine rink from Cornwall finishing atop the Girl’s standings with a perfect 4-0 win-loss record, and will advance to the second championship game, at 2 pm Sunday, while Team Easter and Team Carver, who both finished at 1-3 win-loss will square off in the first championship game, at 10 am, with the winner advancing to the second championship game. If Team Lenentine, who went undefeated in the round robin loses the 2 pm contest, there will be a third championship game at 6 pm between Lenentine and the winner of the 2 pm match.
Team Snow gets the bye to game 2 in the Boy’s division, finishing the double round-robin in first place at 3-1 win-loss, with 2nd place Team Rochford (2-2) and 3rd place Team Dalton (1-3) playing off in the 10 am semi-final, with the winner facing Snow in the 2 pm final.

PEI U18 Ch’ships now set for March 11-13 in Crapaud, with 3 Girls and 3 Boys teams entered
The PEI Under 18 Curling Championships, which were postponed in January, will now take place March 11, 12, and 13 at the Crapaud Community Curling Club.
The three girls teams and an equal number of boys rinks signed up will play a double round-robin format, followed by a two or three-game championship round, with the third game needed only if a team went through the double round-robin undefeated and loses their first championship game.
There will be new champions this year, as members of the defending champion Mitchell Schut and Rachel MacLean rinks (both of whom recently won the U21 event). are aged out of this event, although Cruz Pineau from Team Schut will be replacing (aged out) Liam Barbrick on Team Snow, which made it to the final in the U21, as did Ella Lenentine in the Girls section. Team Easter was also in the Girls championship round.
