About the Games…

From February 15 until March 3, 2019, Red Deer, Alberta will host the 2019 Canada Winter Games.  The 2019 Canada Winter Games will be the largest event ever hosted in Red Deer and the largest multi-sport and cultural event to be hosted in Alberta in over 30 years – since the 1988 Olympics in Calgary!

Over 3,600 participants from across Canada will compete for gold in 19 sports during the 2019 Games.  The 2019 Games is forecasted to generate an economic impact of over $132 million, with 20,000 visitors expected to visit Red Deer and central Alberta for the event.


In order to compete curlers shall be a maximum of 17 years of age on June 30, 2018, therefore they must be born on or after July 1, 2000.

Curl PEI will be using a team based selection process where all teams are formed under their own free will without influence from Curl PEI.  Curl PEI will continue to provide appropriate Championships and events where CWG hopefuls can gather and compete.


Team PEI curling coaches must be fully certified Competition Coach – Introduction with CWG Module no later than February 1, 2018.  To be a fully certified Competition Coach – Introduction with CWG Module curling coach you must have:

  • Attend a Competition Coach – Introduction workshop
  • Complete the Competition Coach – Introduction evaluation
  • Making Ethical Decisions (Training and Evaluation)
  • Complete the Canada Winter Games Professional Development module
