MacFadyen Rink Steals Extra End To Win Senior Men's Championship
Ted MacFadyen and his host Crapaud squad stole a single in the 11th end to edge Grant Somers and capture the 2004 Consolidated Credit Union Provincial Senior Men's Curling Championship. With MacFadyen's rock lying in the back four-foot, Somers attempted to draw and came up a couple of inches short. Other members of the winning rink are third Bill MacFadyen, second Sandy Foy, and Mike Coady. MacFadyen will now go on to represent P.E.I. at the 2004 Canadian Seniors to be held January 24 - February 1 in Vernon, B.C.
Berry Rink Wins Consolidated Credit Union Senior Women's Title
Shirley Berry and her Cornwall rink captured the 2004 Consolidated Credit Union Provincial Senior Women's Curling Championship with a 9-6 win over Barb Currie of Summerside. With the game tied 6-6 playing the tenth end, Berry scored a big three-ender to grab the victory. With her last shot of the game, Currie attempted a long raise takeout which curled just a fraction too much, and Berry did not have to throw the last rock. Other members of Berry's winning rink are third Arleen Harris, second Linda Fairhurst, and lead Karen MacIntee. They will now go on to represent the province at the 2004 Canadian Seniors to be held in Vernon, B.C., January 24 - February 1.
The players, fans, and the P.E.I. Curling Association would like to thank the Consolidated Credit Union and Su Rogers for their generousity in sponsoring our event. Without their support, we would not be able to put on such a successful and exciting tournament.
