Ted MacFadyen wins third-straight Seniors Men's Title
The Charlottetown Curling Club rink of Ted MacFadyen, Mel Bernard, Sandy Foy and Mike Coady scored a triple in the eighth end, and stole another 3-pointer in the ninth on Monday afternoon to double clubmate Craig Mackie by a score of 8-4 in the men's final of the PEI Credit Unions Provincial Seniors Curling Championships at the Western Community Curling Club in Alberton. Playing with Mackie were Robert Hennessey, David C. Murphy, and Gordon MacDonald. This makes three consecutive Seniors titles for MacFadyen, who has won five times in the past six years. He also won the provincial Tankard men's title in 1980, 1983, 1987, 1990, and 1992, and the Mixed in 1987.

Barbara Currie comes from behind to repeat as Senior Women's Champ
Earlier on Monday, defending champion Barbara Currie from the
Silver Fox Curling and Yacht Club in Summerside defeated Charlottetown's Diane MacKay rink by a 9-7 score this afternoon to repeat as women's champion. Currie, with teammates Karen E. MacDonald, Helen MacDonald, Dawn MacFadyen, and coach Al Ledgerwood, started the game by taking three points in the first, but MacKay, who was undefeated in round robin play, fought back to lead 7-4 after seven ends. Currie then took a deuce in the eighth, stole another pair in the ninth, and sealed the win with a stolen single in the 10th. Currie's only loss in the round robin was a 10-3 decision to MacKay. Currie scored four points in the tenth end on Sunday to edge Cornwall's Shirley Berry 9-8 in the semi-final. Other members of the runner-up MacKay foursome are Sherren Morrison, Shelley Ebbett, and Catherine Jean MacDougall. Currie previously won the Seniors title in 2001 as well as last year, and was provincial women's champion in 1984 and 1986.
