MORRIS – Manitoba’s Terry McNamee staged a late ends comeback against Prince Edward Island to improve to 4-0 at the Canadian Mixed Curling Championship here Monday.
Trailing PEI’s Robert Campbell 5-3, McNamee turned the tide in the ninth end. First, the Brandon skip made a perfect raised takeout to lie 2. And then, after Campbell flashed a takeout attempt with his last rock of the end, McNamee drew the eight foot for a three-ender and a 6-5 lead.
Campbell had a chance to tie the game in the 10th end with a short tap to the four-foot but the 1989 Canadian Mixed champion elected instead to go for the win and attempt a triple takeout. The effort failed, McNamee stole two and Manitoba improved to a perfect 4-0. PEI is 3-1.
