Casey likes the chemistry on new Gushue rink (Journal)

Adam Casey is quickly adjusting to his new role of “blue-collared” curler.

After winning five P.E.I. junior titles and a Canadian junior title while playing mate for Brett Gallant, the Summerside curler finds himself playing lead this year for former Olympic champ Brad Gushue’s team in Newfoundland.

“There is a change in perspective in the positions,” Casey reflected. “I think of it as the blue-collared worker on the team.”

He admitted he’s still getting himself back in shape for the sweeping that’s required of competitive teams’ front ends.

“It’s good. Sore sometimes, but it’s working,”

He’s off to a pretty good start, too. The new-look Gushue foursome won its first Asham World Curling Tour bonspiel of the season Sunday in Switzerland. They pocketed 13,000 francs, nearly $15,000 (Canadian) for their 10-game weekend.
