Gallant, MacDonald, Shaw among opening draw winners at Hub City Cashspiel (Times/Transcript)

Moncton skips Terry Odishaw and Marc Lecocq came up winners last night in the opening draw of the $24,000 Molson Canadian Hub City Shootout, the richest event of the season on the Atlantic Curling Tour.

Odishaw topped Mike Gaudet of P.E.I. 7-5 and Lecocq, already a two-time winner in the tour this season, turned back defending champion Chad Stevens of Nova Scotia 8-1.

Lecocq scored three in the first end and five in the third and the Stevens rink then threw in the towel.

In other opening night games the results were: Brent Gallant (PEI) 7, Brent MacDougall(NS) 1; Mike Flannery (Fredericton) 7, Jamie Newson (PEI) 4; Rod MacDonald (PEI) 7, Jeremy Mallais (Moncton) 5; Bruce Lohnes (NS) 7, Doug MacKenzie (Team Subaru, NS) 6; Robert Shaw (PEI) 7, Marcel Robichaud (Moncton) 3; Jamie Murphy (Team Revolve, NS) 6, Rob Harris (NS) 4; Zack Eldridge (Fredericton) 7, John Luckhurst (NS) 3; Paul Dobson (Saint John), 6, Robert Campbell (PEI) 4.

The shootout, which also features an eight-team women’s division, continues today through Sunday. Today’s schedule features draws at 8:30 and 9:30 a.m., 1:30, 2:30, 6:30, 7:30 and 9 p.m.

Games are set for Curl Moncton Beausejour and Beausejour.
