MacFadyen rink splits Monday games to go to 2-3 at Canadian Firefighters

After Monday play at the 53rd Canadian Firefighters Curling Championship at the Truro Curling Club,  New Brunswick, skipped by Joe Vautour from the Saint John Fire Department, remains undefeated with a 4-0 record, after picking up a 9-7 win over the Northwest Territories. Southern Ontario, captained by Dwayne Lowe from the Ottawa FD, had their first loss, 8-7 in an extra end to Manitoba, and a win, 9-7 over Northern Ontario, to go to 4-1. Nova Scotia is 3-1, followed by Alberta and Northern Ontario at 3-2 and Manitoba at 2-2. PEI is for the third consecutive year, is from the Summerside FD, skipped by Gordon MacFadyen. They are at 2-3, following a 7-5 loss to Quebec, also 2-3, and an 8-3 win over BC (0-4) today. The Island rink, which also includes Leo Stewart, Dwayne MacNeil, and Jim Arsenault, have Tuesday morning off, and play Nova Scotia in the afternoon.

Round robin play continues through Thursday with draws at 10 am, and 3 pm.  The Page playoffs go Friday, with the 1st and 2nd place teams after the round facing off in the Page 1-2 game with the winner advancing to the final, and the loser playing the winner of the Page 3-4 game between the 3rd and 4th place teams, in the 9 am Saturday semi-final, and the winner of that game advancing to the 1 pm Saturday final.
