New Brunswick and S. Ontario on top at 3-0, PEI 1-2 at Canadian Firefighters in Truro

Three draws are in the books at the 53rd Canadian Firefighters Curling Championship being played at the Truro Curling Club. New Brunswick, skipped by Joe Vautour from the Saint John Fire Department, and Southern Ontario, captained by Dwayne Lowe from the Ottawa FD share the lead after Sunday play with 3-0 records, followed by Northern Ontario and Nova Scotia, at 2-1, and Manitoba at 1-1. The PEI entry, for the third consecutive year, is from the Summerside FD, skipped by Gordon MacFadyen, and are among four rinks with 1-2 records, after losing both games today, 7-5 to New Brunswick and 10-6 to Alberta. The Island rink, which includes Leo Stewart, Dwayne MacNeil, and Jim Arsenault, won their opener on Saturday by a 9-5 score over Saskatchewan.

Round robin play continues through Thursday with draws at 10 am, and 3 pm. PEI plays Quebec and BC on Monday. The Page playoffs go Friday, with the 1st and 2nd place teams after the round facing off in the Page 1-2 game with the winner advancing to the final, and the loser playing the winner of the Page 3-4 game between the 3rd and 4th place teams, in the 9 am Saturday semi-final, and the winner of that game advancing to the 1 pm Saturday final.
