It’d be an understatement to call the next few weeks anything less than a defining time for the Calgary-based Team Webster rink.
The local team that’s made up of veteran skip Crystal Webster, third Erin Carmody, second Geri-Lynn Ramsay and lead Sam Preston is in the midst of a jam-packed, highly-competitive calendar, and looking ahead, it’s clear to fans that some of the team’s biggest events of the 2012-13 schedule are on the immediate horizon.
Exactly how the team fares in the next 30 days or so could be crucial as the local rink moves forward in this, its second season together.
“November is a very important month for us,” said Webster, the skip who guided her rink to the semifinals at the most recent Alberta Scotties.
“We have some big events coming up.”
It was the rink’s solid, consistent play last season that helped earn it a spot at the upcoming Capital One Canada Cup in Moose Jaw, Sask., at month’s end.
Team Webster is one of seven women’s teams that’ll battle it out at the Nov. 28-Dec. 2 Canada Cup, a ’spiel that sees the winner earn a direct berth to the 2013 Olympic Trials in Winnipeg.
November will also see Team Webster compete at the Masters of Curling in Brantford, Ont. This weekend, the team looks to defend its 2011 title at the Colonial Square Ladies Classic in Saskatoon, a Grand Slam event on the women’s circuit.
