Saskatchewan and the host team from Quebec waged a battle Sunday tonight in an effort to join Nova Scotia at 3-0 and on top of the leaderboard at the 2013 Canadian Mixed Curling Championship at the TMR Curling Club in the Town of Mount Royal.

Mike Fournier’s Glenmore CC team had a slim 4-3 lead playing the 6th end without last stone advantage. Key steals in that end plus steals of two points in each of the 7th and 8th ends finished the 9-3 romp over Jeff Hartung, pushing Quebec into a tie for first place. Hartung’s first loss leaves him at 2-1.

Keeping pace with three wins is Nova Scotia’s Brent MacDougall and his CFB Halifax foursome by virtue of a 13-4 win over Inuvik’s Nick Saturnino. The NWT skip is winless after three games.

BC’s Tom Buchy of Kimberley improved his record to 2-1 defeating two-time Canadian Mixed champion Robert Campbell of Charlottetown by a score of 10-4. While early in the week, the PEI skip is at 0-3 and can ill afford too many more losses.

Monday’s games are scheduled for 11:00 am, 3:30 pm and 8:00 pm Atlantic. Monday morning match-ups feature the traditional Ontario versus Northern Ontario tilt and New Brunswick versus Alberta.
