Robert Campbell loses Canadian Mixed opener to Brent MacDougall of NS (CCA)

(by Danny Lamoureux) The host province’s Mike Fournier opened up play at the 2013 Canadian Mixed Curling Championship with a 9-5 win over the Yukon’s Steve Fecteau in the first round of play at the TMR Curling Club in Town of Mount-Royal, QC.

1989 and 2011 Canadian Mixed Champion Robert Campbell of PEI was not as fortunate in the opening round, losing decisively to pre-qualifier Brent MacDougall of Nova Scotia by a score of 9-3. With the score tied at three, the CFB Halifax skip scored a three in the 6th followed by steals of one in the 7th and two in the 8th to end the game.

Play continues all week at the TMR Curling Club in the Town of Mount Royal, Quebec (part of greater Montréal) with the championship final set for 3:00 pm AST on Saturday, November 24th.
