Fresh off winning her second Canadian senior women’s championship earlier in the day, Nova Scotia skip Colleen Pinkney was honoured again Sunday night during the awards ceremony.
Pinkney, who beat Alberta’s Deb Santos 7-6 in the gold-medal game at the Silver Fox Curling and Yacht Club in Summerside, P.E.I., was named to the women’s first all-star team of the Canadian Senior Men’s and Women’s Curling Championships.

Pinkney topped all last-rock throwers in shooting percentage (77) to earn first-team honours, as did her teammates third Wendy Currie (75) and second Shelley MacNutt (74). Also making the first team was Quebec lead Cheryl Morgan (76).
The all-stars were determined based on shooting percentage during the round robin, with ties broken by plus-minus (when you outshoot your opponent in a game by five points or more, you earn a plus).
The women’s second-team all-stars were: skip Cathy Inglis of Saskatchewan (71), third Jackie Rae Greening of Alberta (72), second Lori Manning of Manitoba (74) and lead Katie Neil of Ontario (76).
The other Canadian champion decided Sunday, New Brunswick skip Wayne Tallon, also was a first-team all-star. Tallon, who called the game and threw third rocks, topped all men’s third-rock throwers in shooting percentage (80) and was joined on the first team by teammate Mike Kennedy, who threw skip rocks (81), along with Prince Edward Island players second Mark O’Rourke (83) and lead Peter MacDonald (83).
The men’s second-team all-stars were: Manitoba skip Bob Sigurdson (76), P.E.I. third John Likely (79), New Brunswick second Mike Flannery (82) and Ontario lead Ken Sullivan (83).
The Sportsmanship awards went to Newfoundland/Labrador men’s skip Glenn Goss and B.C. women’s third Lorraine Jeffries.
