TORONTO — Winnipeg’s Jennifer Jones scored a single in the final end to defeat Rachel Homan 6-5 and eliminate the Canadian champion in the quarter-finals of the Players’ Championship on Saturday.
Homan tied it up with a deuce in the seventh but Jones held the hammer in the deciding end and advanced to the semifinals.

The Ottawa rink blanked the first end but Jones stole one in the second.
Homan then tied it up 1-1 with a single in the third. Jones pulled ahead with a double in the fourth but Homan replied with two of her own to square it back up in the fifth.
Jones, a four-time Players’ champion, added another two in the sixth.
Lawton 8, Sidorova 7 (EE)
Defending Players’ champion Stefanie Lawton scored one in extra ends to defeat Anna Sidorova 8-7 after the Moscow rink rallied from a four-point deficit to send it into overtime.
Lawton picked up a single in the opening end and stole one in the second before Sidorova tied it up with a deuce in the third.
The Saskatoon rink scored a triple in the sixth and led 7-3 but Sidorova bounced back with a double in the seventh and a steal of two in the eighth to tie it up.
Sigfridsson 8, Crocker 3
Margaretha Sigfridsson scored a triple in the first and doubles in the third and sixth as the Swedish rink beat Edmonton’s Laura Crocker 8-3 in seven ends.
Crocker trailed 5-1 but grabbed a single in the fourth and stole one in the fifth to shorten the gap.
But Sigfridsson remained in control of the match and added a steal of one in the seventh and advanced to the semifinals.
Muirhead 8, Sonnenberg 6
Scotland’s Eve Muirhead scored doubles in the second and fourth ends and added a triple in the sixth as the world champions defeated Renee Sonnenberg’s Grande Prairie, Alta., rink 8-6.
Sonnenberg had a double in the seventh but couldn’t complete the comeback.
