Ed White can be excused if he may take an extra second or two to soak in the environment when he settles in the hack to throw his first rock at the 2022 Tim Hortons Brier.
Not only is the 27-year-old Summerside resident competing in one of Canada’s premier events of the year, but it will also be his first time playing in a national curling championship at any level.
“If you are a young curler, myself included, it would be a dream to go to the Brier,” White told SaltWire Network in a phone interview earlier this week. “It’s definitely pretty special. If we can get there without getting COVID and stay healthy, it will definitely mean a lot for sure.”White qualified for two nationals early in 2020 after winning provincial titles for clubs and mixed doubles with his wife, Jenny (McLean), but those Canadian championships were cancelled due to COVID-19.
P.E.I.’s first game is against the Yukon’s Wade Scoffin in Draw 3 on March 5 at 9:30 p.m., Atlantic Time.
