PEI Curling Association Minutes (Men's) 1970-71 through 1979-80
The recording of the history of the PEI Curling Association (Men's and Ladies) and curling clubs on PEI is part of a project initiated by Jerry Muzika through the PEI Curling Association with the view to preserving the curling heritage of Prince Edward Island. Minutes from the Associations and some of the curling clubs have been reviewed and excerpts taken and compiled chronologically. Some anecdotal accounts have also been included for their historical interest.
Thank you - to all who have cooperated and participated in this project. Especially to Debbie Carragher and Janet Doiron at Sport PEI, Shirley Lank, Cornwall Curling Club, Ron Atkinson, Belvedere, and all those who located minutes and entrusted them to me as I carried out my review. Any errors and/or omissions are unintentional and corrections should be passed on to me at this web site. - Jerry Muzika

PRESIDENT'S REPORT
As President of your Association for the past year, I have experienced the position to be interesting, at times challenging and extremely gratifying. We had numerous problems throughout the year. Some of these created very trying moments, in particular, the matter of clearing up the financial matter of Curl Canada and the problem of selecting a Junior Men's Coach. The gratifying moments were participating at the official opening of the Montague Regional Athletic Complex and in receiving a special pin from the President of the Canadian Curling Association.
The Canadian Curling Association Executive held their Fall meeting here last September. Our Executive was able to meet them and discuss various ideas and problems with them. We showed them our Island hospitality by treating them to a few drinks and a lobster supper.
In early March we formally requested to be considered to host the Canadian Senior Men's Championship. We are very happy that the Canadian Curling Association awarded the Championship for 1982 to our Association.
As you will see from our financial statements we did not have a very successful year. This was the main reason why I did not attend the Brier at Calgary.
In closing, I would like to thank the Executive for their help and support during the past year.
Respectfully submitted,
Jerry Muzika
President, P.E.I.C.A.
