Saskatchewan wins Canadian Firefighters

Saskatchewan’s Gregg Tarasoff rink, from the Saskatoon and Swift Current fire departments, aided by a 3 point second and 4 point 7th end, doubled the Aaron Bartling Edmonton Alberta foursome 8-4 in Saturday afternoon’s final to win the 54th Canadian Firefighters Curling Championship, held at the Thistle St. Andrew’s Curling Club, and hosted by the Saint John Fire Dept.

Saskatchewan won the Page 1 vs 2 game 9-2, also over Alberta, to advance directly to the final, while Alberta got by Southern Ont. 9-8 in an extra end in the semi-final to earn their ticket to the Championship game. PEI’s Gordon MacFadyen rink from the Summerside FD finished with a 4-6 round robin win-loss record.
