The open entry playdowns portion of this year's Labatt Tankard PEI Men's Curling Championships were held at the Cornwall Curling Club, while the top eight teams from the triple knockout competition advance to the Final Eight championship round at the Charlottetown Curling Club. The Final Eight will also use a triple knockout format this year. Defending champions are the Rod MacDonald rink from the Charlottetown Curling Club. The Peter Gallant rink were the top seeds going into the competition according to points earned at recent cashspiels (MacDonald was second). The 2006 champion will advance to the Tim Horton's Brier, March 11-19th at Regina's Brandt Centre.
