The Robert Campbell foursome from the Charlottetown Curling Club defeated Montague’s Larry Richards team by a 9-3 score this afternoon at the Silver Fox Curling & Yacht Club in Summerside to win the Provincial Mixed Curling Championship. Leading 5-3 after seven ends, Campbell brought the game to an early conclusion by scoring four points in the eighth end.

Other members of the Campbell team are Rebecca Jean MacDonald, Robbie Doherty, and Jackie Reid. The team now advances to the 2013 Canadian Mixed, November 15-24, 2012 at the Town of Mount Royal Curling Club in Montreal. The same foursome won the 2011 Canadian Mixed, while Campbell also won the Canadian Mixed title back in 1989. Playing with Richards were Tammy Dewar, Cody Dixon, and Gail Greene.
The Richards rink won the A section final of this double-knockout event with a 7-6 win over the Campbell team on Saturday, while Campbell, aided by a four point sixth end, beat Richards 7-4 in the B final on Sunday afternoon to set up today’s sudden death championship game between the two teams.
The final event of the PEI championship curling season, The Dominion Curling Club Championship, starts Thursday in Montague.
