Dolan gets by Birt to force 3 pm deciding game in PEI Scotties

The PEI Scotties winner will now be determined later  this afternoon, after 10 time PEI women’s champion Kim Dolan forced a deciding game, with an 8-6 win over defending champ Suzanne Birt in the 10 am draw. If Birt, who won both the A and B qualifiers had won this match, she would have taken the title, but it will now go to a sudden death final between the two teams, at  3 pm.

Birt had last rock advantage in the first end this morning, and scored a deuce, but Dolan tied it with two of her own in the next end. Birt responded with a single in the fourth end, but a Dolan triple gave her a 5-3 lead going into the 5th end break. Birt then pulled ahead with singles in the next three ends to lead 6-5 after eight. Dolan recorded a deuce in nine, and then stole a single in the final end for the 8-6 win.

The winning team from the 3 pm final will advance to the national Scotties Tournament of Hearts. February 20-28, 2016 at Revolution Place, in Grande Prairie, Alberta.
