MacPhee rink, Brothers team with Erin Carmody, advance to Lady Monctonian semis

The Robyn MacPhee rink from Charlottetown edged the Mary Mattatall squad from Halifax 4-3 this morning in quarter-final play to advance to the noon semi-final round at the $8800 total purse Lady Monctonian cashspiel at Curl Moncton. They’re playing the Shannon Tatlock team from the host club. They lost a close 7-6 decision to Tatlock in their opening game in the event, but have won their next five games to advance to the semi.

The Jill Brothers team from Halifax, which includes PEI native Erin Carmody at third, are playing the MaryAnne Arsenault foursome, also from Halifax, in the other semi. Brothers downed Theresa Breen of Halifax 6-2 in the quarter-finals, while Arsenault eliminated PEI’s Veronica Smith team with a 9-2 victory.
