Ten junior men’s teams and an equal number of junior women’s rinks from around the Maritimes will take part in the annual Pizza Delight/Subway/Howard Johnson Dutch Inn Junior Men’s and Women’s Curling Cashspiel which gets underway Friday afternoon Nov. 20 at the Cornwall Curling Club. Defending champions Erin Carmody and Brett Gallant, who are also PEI’s reigning junior champs (Gallant has won the last 3, while Carmody has captured the last 2 championships) are both back to defend their titles. Carmody also won the Maritime Junior Fall Fling cashspiel last weekend in Summerside.  Gallant did not participate in the event, but won the Oak Island Junior Cashspiel in Chester NS the weekend before.

Other teams entered include the Sam Ramsay foursome, junior men’s runners-up at the Summerside event, former Nova Scotia junior champ Marie Christianson, and two-time former New Brunswick junior champion Mary Jane McGuire.

The finals go Sunday at 1:30 pm. Event results will be available at CornwallCurling.com and PEICurling.com.
