Salmon Arm, B.C. — Brett Gallant is going to the playoffs at the Canadian junior curling championships, but Erin Carmody is not.
Carmody and her Silver Fox Curling and Yacht Club team of Geri-Lynn Ramsay, Jessica van Ouwerkerk, and Darcee Birch were eliminated Friday afternoon when defending champion Kaitlyn Lawes of Manitoba locked up third place by beating New Brunswick’s Ashley Howard.
Carmody made a sensational shot to score two in the 10th end Friday morning to defeat the Yukon’s Sarah Koltun 7-6. That win had given the P.E.I. junior women a shot at making the playoffs, until Manitoba ended their hopes.
