SUMMERSIDE — A total of seven teams — four men and three women — are undefeated after Day 1 of the 2009 Canadian senior curling championships at the Silver Fox Curling and Yacht Club.
Defending champion Eugene Hritzuk of Saskatchewan, P.E.I.’s Mel Bernard, Newfoundland and Labrador’s Bill Jenkins and New Brunswick’s Russ Howard all sport identical 2-0 (won-lost) records.
In women’s play, Nova Scotia’s Colleen Pinkney, Saskatchewan’s Deb Thierman and Manitoba’s Lois Fowler are all 2-0 after four draws.
