Both UPEI teams have one round robin game left at the CIS/CCA University Curling Championships in Montreal. The Adam Casey rink have a good chance at making the playoffs, as they are currently tied with the University of Manitoba for first place in their pool with 3-1 records. This morning, the UPEI men’s team beat Ontario’s Laurier University by a 9-4 score, stealing singles in ends three and four, a double in five and a triple in the sixth end. The Islanders wrap up round robin play against Calgary tonight at 10 Atlantic.
The Sarah Clow women’s rink from UPEI have yet to pick up a win, losing to Manitoba by an 8-6 score this afternoon, narrowing the gap from a 5-0 deficit after end three. The UPEI women wrap up play against Alberta at 9:30 AT on Saturday morning.
The semi-finals go Sunday morning at 10, with the finals at 3 pm (all times Atlantic). The winning teams will advance to the 2010 Karuizawa International Curling Championships, which take place late February in Japan.
