Round robin play wrapped up last night in the men’s section of the CIS/CCA University Curling Championships in Montreal. The Adam Casey rink lost their last game by an 8-6 score to the University of Calgary’s Kevin Yablonski foursome. This puts Calgary, UPEI and St. FX., with 3-2 records, tied for second in their pool, behind the University of Montreal, while Regina is undefeated in the other pool, followed by St. Mary’s and Western Ontario at 3-2.
The Sarah Clow women’s rink from UPEI have yet to pick up a win, losing to Manitoba by an 8-6 score Friday afternoon, narrowing the gap from a 5-0 deficit after end three. The UPEI women wrap up play against Alberta at 9:30 AT on Saturday morning. University of Montreal at 4-0 lead the women’s division.
The upcoming games are not posted on the event website, but men’s tiebreakers would go at 1 pm Atlantic, with the men’s semis currently scheduled for 4 pm, unless a second tiebreaker round is needed. Women’s tiebreakers, if required, go at 9:30 pm Atlantic. Women’s semis are set for 10 am AT on Sunday, with the men’s and women’s finals going at 3 pm Atlantic time.
The winning teams will advance to the 2010 Karuizawa International Curling Championships, which take place late February in Japan.
