After opening day play at the Canada Games Curling Pre-Trials at the Silver Fox Curling and Yacht Club in Summerside, the Tony Nabuurs rink from Montague leads the six team round-robin junior men’s division with a 2-0 win-loss record. Four teams are 1-1, skipped by Jeff Taylor and Tyler Smith from Cornwall, Shawn Pitre from the Western Community Curling Club in Alberton, and Alex Matters of Charlottetown. The Matthew MacLean foursome from the Maple Leaf club in O’Leary is 0-2.

Two teams, skipped by Jenny McLean of the host club, and Amanda MacLean of O’Leary’s Maple Leaf, remain undefeated in the eight team triple-knockout junior women’s section, and play off in the first Qualifier game, Saturday at 10 am.

Four teams, skipped by Emily Keen of Charlottetown, Veronica Smith of Cornwall, Leah Deveau of Montague, and Megan Davies of Charlottetown have one loss, while Fallon Arsenault of the Fox and Kim Dunbar of Charlottetown have two losses, with the loser of their game Saturday at 2 pm being eliminated from further play.

Draws on Saturday and Sunday are at 10 am and 2 pm, with an extra junior men’s tiebreaker draw Monday at 2 pm if required. Four qualifiers from both the junior men’s and junior women’s divisions will advance to the Selection Trial Finals, Dec. 11-14 at the Charlottetown Curling Club. The winning teams from that event will compete at the Canada Games, Feb. 11-27, 2011 in Halifax.
