It was announced today in Charlottetown that the Scotties Tournament of Hearts would return to PEI’s capital city for the third time in the history of the Canadian women’s curling championship. The event will be played in the Charlottetown Civic Centre from February 19-27 2011, with draws telecast on TSN. On hand to make the announcement were Greg Stremlaw, CEO of the Canadian Curling Association (CCA), Warren Hansen, CCA Director of Event Operations and Media, Wayne Long, Events Development Officer for the City of Charlottetown, and Kim Dolan, local host committee chair.
In addition to this announcement, Nancy Marcus, Corporate Vice President of Consumer Marketing for Kruger International was in attendance to announce that Kruger, the leading tissue manufacturer in Canada, will be continuing its unprecedented 29 year sponsorship of women’s curling, with a new multi-year agreement.
The Canadian women’s curling championship was previously held in the city in 1984, and 1999. Tickets for the 2011 event will go on sale in January 2010.
