Seven teams, from the Charlottetown, Cornwall, and Montague curling clubs, will be competing in the triple knockout Scotties Tournament of Hearts Provincial Women’s Curling Championships, January 2-5 at the Montague Curling Club, with the winning rink advancing to the national Scotties, January 30-Feb. 7 in Sault Ste. Marie Ont. The team draw was done on Friday night at the opening ceremonies of the Pepsi Juniors by District 25 MLA Rob Henderson. Defending champions are the Charlottetown Curling Club team of Robyn MacPhee, her sister Rebecca Jean, Shelley Muzika and Tammi Lowther, who beat their clubmates the Kim Dolan foursome by a 9-7 score in last year’s final. The MacPhee sisters are back this year, with Dolan joining the rink at second, and Nancy Cameron from last year’s Dolan rink playing lead stone. The other two members of Dolan’s rink, Kathy O’Rourke and Trisha Affleck, have teamed up with former Junior champs Erin Carmody and Geri-Lynn Ramsay.
