The Western Community Curling Club in Alberton will once again host the Provincial Legion Curling Championship, which gets underway on Friday. Eleven teams are entered, including defending champion Charlie Wilkinson from the Charlottetown branch. Five teams, skipped by John Holmes, Dale Cannon, Grant Somers, Mel Bernard, and Lou Nowlan, are entered from Summerside, while the local Bloomfield branch entries are captained by Rick Hardy and Gifford Costain. Kent Noye is entered from the Ellerslie branch, Barry Cameron is representing Kensington, and the Donald Clarey team from Montague completes the field.
Friday and Saturday action is at 10 am, and 2:30 and 5 pm. Sunday games are at 1 and 5:30 pm. The championship game is Monday at 7 pm. In the event that the same team wins the A and B sections of the double-knockout draw, that game would not be needed.
Live results will be available at curlingresults.com/peilegion.
The winning team will advance to the 54th Dominion Legion Curling Championship, March 13-19, at the Caribou Curling Club in Stephenville NL.
