PEI men 1-1, women 0-2 at Canadian Masters

After opening day play at the Canadian Masters Curling Championship,  in Saint John NB, PEI’s Clair Sweet rink sits at 1-1, while the Jeanne Duffenais foursome are 0-2 in the women’s section. Masters curlers are age 60 and over.

Sweet, with  teammates Bob Matheson, Cliff Poirier, and Wayne Arsenault from the Maple Leaf Curling Club, lost their morning opener 8-5 to Manitoba, but rebounded with a 6-3 win over Northern Ontario in the evening draw.

Duffenais, playing with Georgie Coulson, Marg Nowlan, and Pat Barrett, lost 7-2 to Nova Scotia’s Sue-Anne Bartlett rink  in the morning, and 7-6 to Ontario in the evening.

Tuesday and Wednesday round robin draws are at 9:30 am, and 2:15 and 7 pm. The final goes Friday evening.
