(Postmedia News) MORRIS, Man. — Manitoba’s Terry McNamee is no longer perfect, but he’s still atop the leaderboard at the Canadian mixed curling championship.
McNamee split his two games Tuesday and is the first team to six wins. After giving up a steal of three in the sixth and losing 8-3 to Quebec’s Simon Hebert (1-4) in the morning draw, McNamee rebounded with a 9-2 victory over Newfoundland and Labrador’s Gary Wensman (1-5) in the afternoon draw. He’s now 6-1 with four round-robin games left on the docket.
Hot on the heels of the hosts are a trio of one-loss teams. New Brunswick’s Charlie Sullivan is at 5-1, while Prince Edward Island’s Robert Campbell and Nova Scotia’s Paul Flemming are both 4-1.
Sullivan hung on for a 6-5 win Tuesday morning over Northern Ontario’s Craig Kochan (2-4) and is playing Campbell now in the night draw. Campbell was also a winner in his lone early game, overcoming a 6-3 deficit after seven ends to win 7-6 against Ontario’s Chris Gardner (5-2).
