The 4th annual Molson Canadian Hub City Shootout cashspiel takes place Dec. 9-12 at the Beaver and Beauséjour curling clubs in Moncton, with 24 men’s teams, and 8 women’s rinks competing for over $22,000 in cash prizes.

Five teams from New Brunswick, and three from PEI, are taking part in the women’s division, with PEI’s Kathy O’Rourke rink, silver medallists at last year’s Canadian Scotties, along with Andrea Kelly of New Brunswick, ranked number one and two in the competition. The two teams square off Saturday at 2:30 pm in the round robin. The other PEI rinks entered are skipped by Suzanne Birt and Donna Butler.

The 24 team men’s division includes six PEI rinks, skipped by 2-time Canadian Mixed and multiple PEI Tankard champion Robert Campbell, former Canadian Mixed and multiple PEI Tankard champ Peter Gallant, backed up by his son, former Canadian Junior champion Brett Gallant, along with Rod MacDonald, reigning PEI Tankard and Seniors champion, Kevin Champion, who has won multiple Tankards playing third for Gallant, MacDonald, and Campbell, along with Eddie MacKenzie, who beat Brett Gallant in the final of the recent Labatt/Journal-Pioneer cashspiel in Summerside, and up-and-comer John Desrosiers.

Other entries include the reigning New Brunswick Tankard men’s champs, skipped by James Grattan, and 2007 Nova Scotia Tankard champ  Mark Kehoe.

Admission to watch the games is $5 per draw or $10 per day, or $15 for the entire event.
