Top-notch curling hits Moncton (Times & Transcript)

Hub City Shootout, which begins Thursday, attracts best teams from Maritimes

Most of the top curling teams from the Maritimes will be in Moncton this week and the timing could not be better.

The Molson Canadian Hub City Shootout, which will feature 24 men’s teams and eight women’s teams, will run from Thursday to Sunday at Curling Beausejour and the Beaver Curling Club.

The Shootout will be the last major curling competition in the Maritimes before Christmas.

Following a brief break for the holiday, the top 16 men’s teams from the Atlantic Curling Tour will return to Moncton for their championship bonspiel Jan. 1-3 then it’s off to playdowns, which will ultimately lead to provincial Tankards and the Tim Hortons Brier.

The women in the Shootout will also tuning up for their playoffs, provincial Scotties Tournaments of Hearts and the Canadian championships.
