(Gov’t of PEI) CHARLOTTETOWN, PEI — After an exciting weekend of women’s curling, congratulations to the Birt rink, who has won the spot to represent Prince Edward Island at the 2011 National Scotties Tournament of Hearts, says Health and Wellness Minister Carolyn Bertram.
“Prince Edward Island has many outstanding female curlers, and this past weekend we saw their determination, skill and impressive team work as they competed to represent our province at the national level,” said Minister Bertram. “On behalf of all Islanders, I would like to congratulate the Birt rink for their great success and wish them all the best as they compete for the national title.”
The Birt rink is made up of Skip Suzanne Birt, Third Shelly Bradley, Second Robyn MacPhee, Lead Leslie MacDougall, and Coach Paul Power.
“As we look forward to hosting the Scotties from February 19 to 27 in Charlottetown, I encourage Islanders to get involved with the Scotties and cheer on the Birt rink – our 2011 Team PEI for the Scotties Tournament of Hearts,” said Minister Bertram.
