PEI’s Canada Games curling team gives fans plenty of thrills (Guardian)

Team P.E.I.’s women’s curling squad has been keeping fans of the sport on the edge of their seats this week at the Mayflower Curling Club in Halifax.

That’s because three out of their four games so far (they played a late game last night against Newfoundland and Labrador and won 7-5) have gone into extra ends.

The first two were tough 6-5 losses to the Yukon and Ontario, with the fourth nail-biter an 8-6 win on Wednesday against Quebec.

Despite the pressure-packed competition and the fact that the Island squad is playing in its first ever national event, skip Amanda MacLean and her team of Aleya Quilty, lead, Emily Gray, second, and Kassinda Bulger, mate, are staying positive and taking it all one game at a time.

“For us, it’s like, ‘oh, it’s just another end, so let’s do this.’ We do a little team talk to get up for it and keep going like it’s a normal game,” said MacLean in an interview last night before the team’s last round-robin game.
