Birt rink loses in extra end to NWT/Yukon

The Kerry Galusha rink from the Northwest Territories/Yukon stole a single in an extra end to edge the Suzanne Birt rink from PEI by a 7-6 score this afternoon at the Charlottetown Civic Centre. It’s bad news for PEI’s playoff hopes, as Alberta has beaten New Brunswick 7-3 to have a 6-3 win-loss record.  N.S., who handed Saskatchewan their first loss, by a 7-4 score,  at 5-3. PEI sits at 4-5. Saskatchewan is first at 8-1, followed by Team Canada at 6-2. Ontario, Alberta, and NS all have three losses, while BC has four. Depending on who plays whom, there is a slim chance of PEI making the playoffs, but it is unlikely.

PEI has the evening off, with Team Canada playing Cathy Overton-Clapham of Manitoba in tonight’s feature game.
