PEI picks up opening draw win at Cdn. Firefighters

The 52nd Canadian Firefighters Curling Association Muscular Dystrophy Hydrant Curling Championships got underway on Saturday at the Ogden Legion Curling Club in Calgary Alberta.

PEI, represented by the Gordon MacFadyen rink from the Summerside Fire Department, edged the Northwest Territories team 7-6 in an extra end in the opening draw, with the Territories scoring deuces in three ends, while PEI stole four consecutive singles en route to the win.

PEI plays Northern Ontario in their only Sunday game.
