Brett Gallant (3-1) to play Gushue and former teammate Adam Casey this morning in Quebec cashspiel

PEI’s Brett Gallant rink, which includes Eddie MacKenzie at third, second Anson Carmody, and lead Alex MacFadyen, are 3-1 at the Casino Lac-Leamy Challenge Spiel in Gatineau Quebec, winning their Friday opener 8-6 over the Dale Matchett rink of Brantford Ont., losing their afternoon game 8-7 in an extra end over the Robert Desjardins foursome of Chicoutimi Quebec, and, on Friday, recording a 5-2 win over Chris Gardner from Ottawa, and a 7-5 victory over Philippe Lemay of Trois Rivieres. The Island rink faces the St. John’s team skipped by Brad Gushue, with Gallant’s former teammate Adam Casey at lead, at 11:15 Eastern/12:15 pm Atlantic this morning.

The finals go Sunday at 4 pm Atlantic.

The Gallant and Gushue rinks are competing in the Men’s Elite Class of this event, which includes 24 teams. The competition is part of the World Curling Tour and the Provincial Curling Tour. The elimination round is a triple knock-out formula. Eight  teams qualify for the playoffs. All playoff teams will receive a purse of at least $ 3000 out of a total purse of $36,500. All games are 8 ends.
