O’LEARY – The acting president of the Maple Leaf Curling Club was sounding enthusiastic by the time a special meeting ended Tuesday.
Blair Bernard advised the audience the club could not operate with just 22 members – the number of adult members it had last year.
After counting the members who had already signed up, and the curlers in attendance that said they planned to curl in O’Leary this year, Bernard announced the club will operate. Already, more members were confirmed than last year.
Bernard said club finances, because of a major fundraising event last year and regular dinners this year, are in good shape.
Volunteers planned to turn on the ice plant this week, and have the ice painted and ready for curling by Monday, Nov. 14.
