A number of Island junior curlers are among the 32 teams participating in the 2011 John Shea Insurance OVCA Junior SuperSpiel, which got underway this morning, and wraps up Sunday at the Ottawa, Granite, Carleton Heights, City View, Navy and Manotick Curling Clubs in tha nation’s capital. The finals are Sunday at 5:00 pm Atlantic.
PEi curlers taking part include Emily Gray, who is with her Canadian Junior Olympics Mixed team, skipped by Thomas Scoffin, and participating in the men’s section. PEI’s Sam Ramsay foursome are also in that section, while PEI Pepsi Junior champions, the Sarah Fullerton rink, are in the women’s division, as is PEI native Anita Casey, who is living in Halifax and skipping a team out of the Mayflower curling club.
Teams are playing a triple-knockout format with four games guaranteed. Friday and Saturday games are 8 ends. Sunday’s Championship games are 10 ends.
