PEI beats Yukon to finish play at Canadian Mixed (CP)

SUDBURY, Ont. — Brett Gallant’s Prince Edward Island rink needed just seven ends to rout Scott Hamilton’s Yukon rink 10-2 on Friday in the Canadian mixed curling championship.

The win gave P.E.I. an 8-5 record to finish the tournament in a five-way tie for third, while Yukon lost all 13 of its matches. Alberta finished first at 11-2, while Saskatchewan and NB were tied for second at 9-4.

Later Friday, Jason Ackerman of Regina will lead his Saskatchewan rink against skip Sylvie Robichaud of Moncton and her New Brunswick club in the semifinal.

The winner of that draw will face Kurt Balderston’s Alberta rink in the tournament’s final on Saturday.
