Silver Fox Junior Fall Fling wraps up today

Round robin play wrapped up on Saturday at the 24 team Fall Fling junior cashspiel being played at the Silver Fox Curling and Yacht Club in Summerside.

Four Island rinks lead the men’s section and have advanced to the 9 am Sunday semi-finals. Matthew MacLean of O’Leary’s Maple Leaf Curling Club went undefeated at 5-0,  while Jeffrey Taylor of Cornwall, Alex Matters of Charlottetown, and Sam Ramsay, also curling out of Charlottetown, finished the round robin at 4-1. Jonathan Crouse of Truro was also 4-1, but did not advance to the money round, after tiebreaking rules were applied. This morning’s sem-final matchups see Ramsay take on Matters, and Taylor face MacLean. The finals are at 1.

Two Island teams, and two Nova Scotia rinks have advanced to the semis in the women’s section, all completing the round-robin with 4-1 records. At 9 this morning, Robyn Wile of the CFB Halifax Curling Club will take on Veronica Smith of the Cornwall Curling Club, while Mary Myketyn Driscoll of Truro plays Sarah Fullerton of the Cornwall and Charlottetown clubs, with the winners advancing to the 1 pm finals.

Sunday’s games are 10 ends, and everyone is invited to the Fox to see the Maritime’s best junior teams in action.
